As part of the inaugural in Hongdae, the international “casual creative” website AWEH is throwing a block party and has asked Chincha along for the ride. , and a bundle of other cool cultural collectives in Seoul are also involved, meaning this joint party is going to be MASSIVE.

aims to support the indie culture that thrives in Hongdae. Influenced by the town festival spirit of world-renowned events like Austin’s SXSW and Edinburgh’s famous Fringe, Zandari hopes to promote a collaborative spirit between the groups that are involved in the festival, such as our own, for the first time in Korea.

The Saturday night Chincha party, being at Exit, is of course totally free, but we reckon you should invest in a 30,000 won ticket for the entire weekend anyway. There are over 200 acts and 40 venues involved in the event, meaning full weekend access with one wristband.

As part of the AWEH Block Party, bands are playing at Freebird, curated by and Loose Union. 90′s grunge will come from Love X Stereo, indie from Used Cassettes and punk from The Strikers – all excellent bands who regularly play on the underground circuit. Oh! Records are also putting a bunch of their fun party DJs in Myoungwolgwan.

We decided to create a line-up from some of the acts we regularly promote (because we love them), which is why we have the night starting with vintage soul and funk from Mikey, carrying on with a heavier deep house vibe from Less n Less’s Dambi. Rou Set and Shins of will then take over the decks with their mix of UK bass and garage, followed by ‘s Lewis Anthony and Sam Gates and Paffers from Busan’s STRUT! The night will end with more house from Silk/ Juice’s trashvortex.

Even though we’ve got some super duper DJs playing, the music isn’t the only thing going on. Since it’s us throwing the party, you know it’s going to be heavily documented. We’re going to be filming the event for our Chincha Films series and will be setting up a photobooth in Exit, starting from 9pm, with a heap of props for you to play with and for us to photograph you wearing. We’ve also bought a ton of disposable cameras and want YOU to take one off out hands. Our plan is to document the party old-school style, so we want at least five people to borrow a camera from us to help us get some different perspectives on the party. All you have to do is grab a camera from us at the start of the night and drop it back to us when you’ve shot your roll of pictures so that we can process them and publish the results next week.

We’re also going to be screening a selection of our previous photography and videography on Exit’s projector, including our Chinchagram project, and a group of artists, such as our new logo designer Jared Kieser, will be transforming the wall opposite the bar into a wheat paste art exhibition for the evening.

Above all, we’re really excited about meeting some of our readers and hope you’ll drop by for a little while to party with us. Don’t forget to bring along hats, feather boas and fake moustaches for the photobooth!

From 10.19-20 (21st morning) there will be nonstop performances by over 200 artists in 40 venues (clubs, bars, cafes, alleys and streets). You can buy tickets for Zandari Festa on Interpark. A one-day pass costs 18,000 won while two day passes cost 30,000 won.

Comment below if you want to apply for a disposable camera, leaving us a link to some of your previous photography if you have any examples. You can also email us to apply at .
