Here is a selection of photography from Matt Gale, whose current exhibition ‘reduction’ is on at Seoul Salon in Kyunglidan. Matt mainly works with photography and video, with his current body of work “digging deeper to see what hidden secrets” can be found within the confines of Korean architecture.

The first four images are from his initial shows, Koreana 1 and 2, the name of which is a play on the concept of Americana – the “kitsch, down-home, rural stuff you find so cute about a place”.

The above image, Chrome, was the inspiration for Matt’s current show. Examples from ‘reduction’ can be seen below. This exhibition concentrates on urban structures juxtaposed against the landscapes surrounding them, in a minimalistic style.

This is a photo preview of Matt’s next show, which will be named ‘New Exotic’. More details to come.

Exhibition venue: Seoul Salon | Date: August 24th – September 5th | Time: 8pm until 3am nightly. Delicious G&T’s will be on sale.

Directions: Noksapyeong Station exit 2 go straight towards kimchi pots. Underground crosswalk to the right. Walk up towards Namsan Park. It’s before the galbi restaurant on the left across from the big church.
