If you follow Chincha on Facebook you’re probably already aware that we’ll be hosting this season’s at Platoon Kunsthalle. On Saturday the 30th of March, 2013 we’ll be showing a selection of short films at the Gangnam venue, chosen by the original London-based film distributors, Future Shorts.

We will screen seven films at the quarterly pop-up film event including Candy Girl (2012), a coming-of-age story centered around a gymnastics competition, We’re Leaving (2011), a tale of a couple who must find a new place to live with their teenage alligator, and Fishing Without Nets, a fictional look at the life of Somali pirates told from their own perspective. The latter 17 minute short is now being made into a feature-length short with VICE due to its success, having won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.

Running in 90 countries and 345 cities, with an estimated 45,000 people witnessing the movies, Future Shorts is the largest event of its kind worldwide. Check out a video we made of a previous Seoul festival to find out more.

We’ve also invited our friends at Chicago/ Seoul design company MuteHouse – who created the Future Shorts Seoul poster – to come along. As fans of the handmade, they’ll be screenprinting their newest limited collection tote bags on-the-spot. Order the design you want from a selection, wait a few minutes for screenprinting and flash drying, and take your product home.

Tickets for Future Shorts can be bought on the night for W10,000. Doors open at 6:30pm and the films begin at 8:15. The festival is always immensely popular and usually sells out; get down early for a good seat. The films will all be subtitled in Korean and English subs will be provided when the spoken language is not English.
