Peter Lindbergh’s ”Images Of Women” Exhibition

Paris-based fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh‘s “Images Of Women” exhibition begins in Seoul on Friday March 21st, 2013 at the excellent space that is the 10 Corso Como Gallery. Lindbergh has previously worked for prestigious American magazine Harper’s Bazaar, shot ad campaigns for Jil Sander, DKNY, and Comme des Garçons, and photographed celebrities such as Catherine Deneuve, Mick Jagger and Madonna. His exhibition in Seoul runs until April 28th.

Festival Bo:m Opening

Annual experimental arts event Festival B0:m makes headway in Seoul from this Friday, lasting until April 18th, 2013. Performance and art occurrences will be materializing in venues all over Seoul throughout the festival; find out where, when and how to buy tickets on the official website. We attended a few shows last year, including an intriguing display called ‘Show Real Drama’. Take a look at our review.

Jinbo the SuperFreak Tour

Musician Jinbo the SuperFreak, who sings bilingually in English and Korean, presents his Fantasy 2013 tour of SK. Starting in Seoul this Friday at Gracebay. Jinbo will be accompanied by ‘eccentric beatsmith Mood Schula (of Simo & Mood Schula), guitarist Kim To-il (김토일), pianist Yoon Suk-chul (윤석철), and DJ Stuf’ for a ‘high-level of sophisticated sound that has never before touched the surface of the Korean peninsula’. Tickets are W20,000.

FRIDAY 22nd

Music People Presents: Oorutaichi and Magic Touch

For some ‘outstanding’ artists this weekend, head to to see the critically-acclaimed Oorutaichi (via Japan) and international festival regular Magic Touch (via LA) performing live at the Noksapyeong venue. DJ Aaron, who we recently interviewed as part of our Shot of Soju series, is ending the night with a mix of everything from leftfield dance to obscure Italo disco.

Rock도 Fundraiser Gig

Last year the Rock도 organisers created a series of gigs in order to raise money for a festival on the Han River at the end of summer. This year they’re doing it again and the first fundraising show is this weekend at Strange Fruit, Seoul. Read more about the festival and the upcoming gig series on the Rock도 blog.

Seasonal Soiree Scene II: Beauty of the Beast, MONKFISH

Dandy Pink, the venue holding their second ‘soiree’ is all about using as much sustainable, seasonal produce as they possibly can. Their last party revolved around oysters but this time around their paying homage to a different kettle of fish: the monk variety, to be exact. The new Gyungnidan venue have also been busy making special cordials for the occasion. .

DotDotDot Launch Party

DJs Eugene Blake, Minii and Beanie, regulars at underground dance clubs around Seoul, are this Friday night at Factory Underground. The relatively new venue, which lies beneath Czech restaurant Castle Praha in Hongdae, is charging W10,000 for entry after 12:00 and before 4:00. Reserve guestlist for free entry outside of this time slot.

Les Sales, Slow Dress, Table People and The Quip

Having seen Les Sales and Slow Dress at the Bisque Rage party last weekend we highly recommend checking out both bands. They’ll be at Ccot Ddang this Friday night, a great venue which is unfortunately set to close down in April. .

SATURDAY 23rd

Play with Music

, a group offering opportunities for cross-cultural exchange between expats and Koreans, will host a ‘Play with Music’ night this Saturday. For W5,000, which will net you two bottles of beer in return, you are encouraged to share your favourite music with the group and the story behind your choice.

Southern Sons at Magpie

After the packed out launch of the new Magpie Brewing Co. basement last week, to supply one-and-all with food and fancy drinks at the much-lauded bar. The mixologists and chefs have promised a selection of burgers, including a tofu variation for all the veggies out there, and their most popular beverages from previous Southern Sons pop-ups.

Grimes in Seoul

The biggest event in Seoul this week is Canadian electro star Grimes’ live gig at Rolling Hall, Hongdae. Pre-sale tickets are sold out but there will be a limited number at the door and an after-party where Grimes herself will be DJing. Tickets are available on the SuperColorSuper website for W30,000. The collective have also recently released their new Spring line-up, featuring The Dodos (eek!) and This Will Destroy You, among other super duper acts. See them all in this blogpost.

SFW AW13 begins this coming Monday the 25th of March at the IFC Mall in Seoul. Buy tickets for the biannual event’s runway shows on Yes24. Korean language skills necessary for purchase.
