The Primary are an expat Indie Folk band based in Cheongju, Korea. We write a lot about indie music, especially since there are many indie bands based in Korea, but after spending some time listening to The Primary we feel like this five-piece offer something slightly different from the standard paradigm. For a start they have a cello, and combine folk and indie in just the right way to make it sound original and fresh. Their music is more on the folky side, but with an Irishman leading the band what else do you expect??

As well as an Irishman the quintet is made up of a Scotsman, two Canadians and an American. Together they are playing eight dates over Korea this month, with the festivities starting in Seoul on Friday 8th of June at Freebird, Hongdae.

The band made this down-to-earth video to introduce themselves and give a taster of what they are all about.

They recently recorded their new EP in Korea but had it mixed and remastered in the States, making it a fully international affair. They are now ready to showcase their efforts.
