It’s the weekend before Halloween, so everyone and their corpse bride-outfitted Grandmother is cashing in on the holiday. Here are the parties we actually want to spend our money on.

Rocky Horror Halloween

This event sounds fantastically kitsch. Seoul Players, Korea’s expat drama society, are putting on a shadow cast showing of the iconic Rocky Horror Show. The cult film will be screened on both nights and the cast will act along with it, encouraging audience participation; start shimmying around in your bedroom to the Time Warp in preparation. The band DMCK will perform on the Friday while alt electro act Kite Flying Robot is booked in for Saturday night.

Venue: Moonnight, Itaewon
Price: 10,000 won on the door
Time: 9pm Fri and Sat

Howlin’ Weenie Fest III

As the third Haebangchon Halloween festival and the seventh fall festival, this a pretty established affair on the expat events calendar. The line-up is sweet too – you can see everything from random acoustic acts to more well-known Hongdae indie bands. Plus, the Red Hot Kimchi Peppers are playing. Definitely the best fermented cabbage pun we’ve come across in a while.

Venue: Various Haebangchon bars
Price: Free
Time: From 9pm Fri and Sat

Halloween w/ Nakion, Aaron Choe and Antoine

Slick DJs Nakion, Aaron Choe and Antoine are joining forces for a Friday night at Exit. A gig with Nakion is a rare beast these days, so make Friday night worth your while with some “dark industrial, minimal wave, post punk, and various obscure dance tracks”. If you want to spend all weekend in the garage bar then Silk/ Juice are also taking over on Saturday night for a dress-up deep house spectacular. See poster below for deets.

Venue: Exit, Hongdae
Price: Free
Time: 10pm

The Sitting Dead

Jankura Art Space are putting on a zombie sketch night for anyone who wants to get artistic with a canvas rather than facepaint this Halloween. Zombies will be making 15 minute poses for you to capture the essence of the undead and you can even nab a free sketchbook for coming in costume.

Venue: Jankura Art Space
Price: 10,000won
Time: 6pm – 8pm

Zombie Walk plus after-party at DGBG.

While we’re on a zombie vein, this Saturday is the third annual Zombie Walk in Seoul. Put simply, a community of zombies, yourself included, will walk from Seoul Forest to Hongdae dressed in decrepit, bloody garb. The after-party is a SuperColorSuper affair, who we have a lot of love for right now after their majorly exciting announcement this week. Mingle with other zombies on the walk (and subway ride) and then consume alcohol, yourself, or each other (whatever it is that zombies do), at Club DGBG.

Venue: Starts at Seoul Forest, ends at DGBG, Hongdae
Price: Zombie Walk free; DGBG 10,000 won
Time: 6pm

Halloween Night @ Cakeshop

After Rou Set and Shins’ intensely awesome set at our party last Saturday, it’ll be hard for us to be at a Halloween party where those guys are not. Luckily they’re at Cakeshop this weekend for a costume party mixed with house, beats and bass, where Rou Set is a resident DJ. Better yet, the party’s free till midnight. Dressing up is a must.

Venue: Cakeshop, Itaewon
Price: Free before midnight, 10,000 won afterwards
Time: 10pm

Halloween Silent Disco

The regular Hongdae silent disco is on this weekend in the park playground, from 8pm as usual, except in keeping with the date this time it’s Halloween-themed. Expect to see lots of people wearing black and orange while quietly bobbing around in headphones.

Halloween Meet Market

Yay, our favourite party for queers and their allies is back. Since the Meet Market is always costume-themed this is the perfect party to put your best fancy dress effort into this Halloween. There’ll be not one but TWO drag queens performing, a free drink with your entry ticket, and super cheap specials.

Venue: Myoungwolgwan, Hongdae
Price: 10,000 won plus a free drink. And lube.
Time: From 9pm
