This week sees the return of the Ink Bomb International Tattoo Convention to Platoon for a three day exhibition, stretching from the 18th until the 20th May. The convention began in 2008 and is back again, bigger than ever this year as Korea’s largest scale gathering celebrating tattoo culture.

There will be esteemed tattoo artists from all over the world, Korea and Japan’s leading rock and roll bands, live artist performances, Korean traditional Salumnori dancing, special DJ performances, custom painting, body piercing/painting and live skateboarding and surfing performances. Over three days Ink Bomb aims to bring these subcultures within touching distance, allowing us an insight into alternative types of art and bringing a new perspective to the art of tattooing. The highest caliber of tattooists will be present and will maybe even persuade you enough with their talents to get a tattoo yourself!

The first day will be focusing mostly on the art, with live painting. The second day is all about live performances and then the third day will be the main attraction of the event: the tattoo competition. There will be an award ceremony to round off the convention, where the contest winner will be chosen.

This year’s tattoo convention will be at Platoon Kunsthalle in Gangnam. Directions can be found here.
