ALL WEEKEND
Jisan Valley Rock Festival
The time has finally come for the festival we’ve been waiting a whole year for. Jisan is back with an impressive line-up, headlined by Radiohead, James Blake and The Stone Roses. Check out our tips for other bands to watch out for and see some pictures from last year in this preview post. Fingers crossed the swimming pools will be making a comeback.
UPDATE: We’re going to be collecting all of our photos together under the hashtag #chinchajisan on Twitter and Instagram. Feel free to add your own and we’ll publish them on the site next week.
Handmade Korea Art Fair
Unfortunately there’s not much info in English on this art fair, apart from in this blog post. If you’re interested in hand-crafted art, particularly of the Korean kind, we imagine this COEX fair will be worth visiting. It runs from the 26th – 29th of July and entry is 10,000 won.

SATURDAY
Slutwalk Korea
We picked up info on this event from The Grand Narrative, which is a very worthwhile site for an intelligent reading of feminism, sexuality and culture in Korea by university lecturer James Turnbull. Slutwalk originated in Toronto, Canada after a Police Officer made the mistake of commenting that females should, ‘avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimised‘. Residents of the city were outraged and organised a march where women dressed up in ‘slutty’ clothing in protest. Having now become a repeated event that has spread all over the world, this Saturday sees Seoul’s second annual walk. It starts in Tapgol Park, Jongro at 4pm. Here’s a little info in English.
The Lowbrows
Tokyo DJ act The Lowbrows are going to be killing it at Globe Lounge this weekend with their trendsetting electronic music. See them for free through us – the first 10 people to comment on this post get pre-12:30am guestlist. For details on other types of guestlist, and prices, check the .
WhiteLies Burlesque Revue
We interviewed Nell Fox, leader of Seoul burlesque-rs WhiteLies, this week about the intriguing troupe ahead of their summer closing show. Read what she had to say about what it’s like dancing burlesque in Korea and check info on the event HERE.
