Happy first week of March! We’re ecstatic that we can feel our feet again after the arduously long winter.

As well as enjoying the slightly milder weather we’ve been looking ahead to St. Paddy’s Day, started getting excited for some of this summer’s festivals, got schooled on the best way to acquire a room at a Love Motel, and published some style photography from SOL-SOL showing the cool and quirky fashion you can find on the streets of Korea.

Speaking of fashion, our friends over at fashion company IISE also released the video below this week, showing the unique organic dyeing system behind their bags. It’s even been featured on Hypebeast!

Sweat the Night Away with Silk/ Juice

Nujabes Tribute Show

From 9pm – 12:30AM, for W25,000, commemorating one of jazz hip hop’s greats will be Shing02 and DJ A-1 from Japan by way of America. A whole host of other performers will be in attendance, including ex-Epik High singer MYK and DJ Murf from YG will head the show with a nostalgic set. You can also pick up Nujabes albums and photo books at the venue. .


Slow Danse to Magico to Disco at Exit

Grungy garage in Hongdae is always a decent place to swing by if you’re in the Hongdae area on the weekend with no plans. The music is always ace and this week will be no exception since DJs Slow Danse and will be at the venue spinning their smooth beats. Entry is free and drinks are cheap.


Burgers, Beer and Booze at Salt & Butter

Blow off new-school-year steam or beeline for good burgers and beer at Salt & Butter this Saturday night. Magpie Brewery, Southern Sons cocktail crafters and Salt & Butter, Seoul’s haven of New American, have teamed up to make you drool with a night of food and booze. The event kicks off at 6pm. Find Digital Peace at Platoon

Digital Peace 2013 is a long-running event series run by the German and French embassies in Korea which launches this Saturday at Platoon Kunsthalle (). This weekend sees a motley of music from France, Germany and Korea, mostly orientated around dance and techno styles. Read more about the night in our in-depth preview.

FLOW: Performance Art and Media Festival

FLOW, a performance art and media festival, will kick off at Gallery Golmok in Itaewon this Saturday. The second-annual showcase of performance and action art will overflow from the gallery and bring art to the streets of Hongdae and Itaewon. Previously showcasing mainly Korean artists, FLOW 2013 will feature artists from North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. The festival will continue with events throughout March. Mix it up with Night Trifle Vol. 1 at Strange Fruit

Strange Fruit is a sweet Hongdae venue for grabbing a quiet drink with friends or rocking out to Seoul indie musicians. This Saturday you should think about doing the latter, since the basement club is hosting a mix of five bands. One of them is called Bear Fucker, FYI. .

The Nujabes Tribute After Party

After the insanity of the Nujabes Tribute on Friday night, you could swing by . ‘Shing02 and DJ A-1  will riddle your ears with the freshest beats and rhymes’ while jazz musician plans to accompany singer Abby Rae with his horn. MYK is rapping again, too. . Entry costs W20,000.

Myeongdong Night Festival Returns

The Myeongdong Night Festival returns for the first time in 2013, featuring a silent disco which you can sign up to (Korean-language only). The party’s theme is the arrival of Spring and happens in front of the Myeongdong Theatre. Read more about it on Visit Korea.


Get on your Tip Toes at Space

Sydney Langford is presenting another one of her bilingual dance classes for beginners at SPACE (read more about the community venue here) this Sunday. Sign up for ballet for just W10,000 on SPACE’s website. Drop-ins are W15,000 and the class runs from 4:00pm – 5:00pm.
