ONGOING
The gorgeous photography exhibition focusing on the female form, “Tin Tones – Rough Print”, is in Seoul for the first time this month. The photographer is acclaimed German artist Michael A. Russ and his prints will be available to see until July 31st at Club MOW Art Gallery in Sinsa. For more information and to preview some of the work check out Art Place Seoul‘s preview.
FRIDAY
Jisan Warm-Up Party With Love X Stereo.
Love X Stereo are headlining a Jisan Valley Rock Festival warm-up at MPUB this Friday night, with the party starting from 8pm. The artists, who will be appearing on the Open Stage at the rock event, are influenced by alt punk rock and describe their music as ‘danceable’. To find out more about the gig here’s the Muzever page.
SATURDAY
Rock Do Chill Chill
As the event title suggests, this session at Yogiga in Hapjeong is going to be pretty laid-back. The series of Rock Do events has been ongoing for a big chunk of this year, with promoters Exit 6 putting them on to raise money for a free festival in Yeouinaru at the end of the summer. The day starts with acoustic musicians and artist exhibitions for just 3,000 won from 3pm, although the price inches up slightly to 5000 won after 6pm for a full-on band show. .
Platoon Flea Market
This flea market in conjunction with The Bling magazine is probably the best in Seoul, or is at least the most established. Get there early at around 5pm to avoid being caught in a scrimmage for vintage – the place gets packed. Even if you’re not into high-fashion jumble sales it’s always fun to hang around the BBQ (their Samgyepsal wrapped in bread and onions is probably the closest thing you’re going to get to a bacon sandwich for a while) and people watch.
Party in the Park
As long as the weather holds tight this weekend then this party should be totally awesome. The concept is simple: big park + sick DJs + good people = a super fun day out in Seoul. Best of all, it’s entirely free. For more info on the wicked line-up and great location head to our preview.
Social Underground
The general consensus this week seems to be that the attendees will be heading on over to Social Underground at Exit afterwards to carry on with the drinking and dancing. DJs Lewis Anthony and Raico are behind both events so it’d be discourteous not to go support them at everyone’s favourite grimy Hongdae spot. This event is also FREE. You should check out the interview we did with the DJs to get you pumped for this dirty bass night with no gimmicks.
Mannam Charity Event
The lovely people at Mannam Volunteer Association are putting on a charity concert this weekend at Naru Arts Centre, near Konkuk University. It costs a mere 10,000 won to do some good this weekend with all profits going to the Al-Noor Orphanage Center in South Africa. Click for the hip-hop and indie rock line-up, plus exact directions to the event.
Hamilton Hotel Pool Party
This party at the Hamilton Hotel looks like the trashiest event going on this weekend, which is totally fine by us. Pre-sale entry (ending Friday) is 50,000 won but that comes with a (most likely neon) wristband, which gets you four hours of entry and unlimited drinks. Are we in Ibiza? We hope so. .
SUNDAY
The championship is going on all weekend but we thought we’d suggest going on Sunday since it looks like your Saturday schedule is going to be packed. As well as awe-inspiring B-boy battles on stage, a street market and a graffiti festival is also on the cards. We went to this last year and it was rad. See our review.
