It’s the final weekend for the Seoul Lantern Festival, so if you haven’t yet you may want to brave the crowds and head to Cheonggyecheon stream to see the impressive display.
Platoon Events
Platoon has a ton of excellent quality events on this weekend, including Park Hyesoo’s ongoing The Dream Thrown Away dialogue exhibition, comprising of three years of research and artistry. Thursday sees Open Stage, an event series promoting rising musicians – this week, Yoon Nara Trio and Eleckstic will be in attendance. Friday is The Fighters Club Showcase Party, a clash of taekwondo and beatboxing, and on Saturday German techno DJ Alex Bau will play a free set from 9pm, which is likely to be absolutely banging. The Sartorialist Book Signing
Uber famous, highly skilled fashion and street photographer Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist, perhaps the most well-known and respected street style blog on the interweb, is holding his first book signing this Friday. The signing will occur at Corso Como in Cheongdam at 4pm. Here’s the notification for the event on his blog and here are some pictures he shot last time he was in Seoul.
Music People Present Daniel Wang at Cakeshop
Music People are holding their inaugural party this Friday night, with the huge coup of presenting Daniel Wang to Seoul’s residents. Expect NY disco, Chicago house and Detroit techno from the influential producer and his supporting DJs. Want more details on this underground party? Check .
Sander Van Doorn at Octagon
If you’re looking for a huge clubbing experience this weekend, Dutch techno aficionado Sander Van Doom is the spotlight of this weekend’s first birthday party of super club Octagon. Entry costs just 10,000 won before 10pm but triples afterwards. See more on 10 Magazine‘s website.

Seoul Reel Rock Film Tour
South Korea’s climbing community are hosting four films themed around the outdoors and adventure sports as part of the Reel Rock Tour. All proceeds from the event will be put towards sustainability projects in South Korea. The event is entirely bilingual and tickets can be purchased for 10,000 won from www.kotri.org. Project Renew
It’s the little things that make a difference, which is what Project Renew is all about. The worldwide volunteer idea has been picked up by a group of people in South Korea, who are encouraging random acts of kindness this Saturday. Interested volunteers can meet at JS Texas Western Ice Bar near Jongak station ready to hand out gifts to brighten up peoples day. Find out more on .
Alex Bau
As previously mentioned, Alex Bau, the German techno DJ, will be at Platoon from 9pm on Sat night. He will then skip across town to Quadro from around 1am. This is a great opportunity to catch a world class DJ – whether you’re partying in Hongdae or Gangnam this weekend. Find out more on promoters .
Thee Oops at Club Spot
Sardinian punk rockers Thee Oops plan to cause mayhem in some of Korea’s clubs this weekend with their hardcore tunes. We interviewed the guys while they were on their way here – you can read what they have to say in this article. Seoul Vegan (Thanksgiving!) Potluck
American vegans, where you at? SVP is growing and we feel like this may be their biggest get together yet: an all herbivore Thanksgiving feast, bucking the trend for a holiday usually centred around meat eaters. Vegan eats will be available to barter and buy, so bring along a dish and tuck in. Boston Improv
