Japanese Pop Artist Shinro Ohtake
Shinro Ohtake’s first solo exhibition in South Korea is ongoing until January 20th, 2013. The Art Sonje show includes a selection of his extensive body of work, including new pieces created exclusively for the Korean audience. See all the details on the museum’s website.

East Pennsylvania band Blues Control are making an appearance at Yogiga in Hongdae with music from their highly-rated - by none other than Pitchfork - album FRKWYS Vol.8. The unusual mix of genres they stir into their music creates a vivid, unforgettable sound. The show is free. .
Seoul Streetz Vol. 6
Monthly hip hop showcase Seoul Streetz is back with another collection of Korean and foreign artists performing. For anyone interested in taking to the mic themselves, there’ll also be a freestyle session afterwards. Entry is 15,000 won on the door and 10,000 won beforehand, but students can get in for free before 11:30pm. .

Yet another chance to sample the delights of Linus’ Southern Style BBQ comes this weekend at lovely Hannam-dong cafe Ways of Seeing. As well as delish food, purveyors of electro Hexa Records are in charge of the music and artwork will come from “Dude, let’s play in my room”. Mmmmk. .
Countdown Fantasy 2012 – 2013
If you’re into Korean indie then this three-day festival has an immense, unmissable line-up which might just be worth the 132,000 won price tag. Endorphins at Powwow
is local indie band line-up Smacksoft, Swimming Doll, Toyshop and UMF, squished into the cosy venue near Noksapyeong Station. Entry is 10,000 won.
The Meet Market End of Year Prom
The Meet Market are throwing the queer prom you never got to have this Saturday night at Myoungwolgwan. Not that you have to worry about turning up alone: there’s speed dating from 10pm and lots of drink offers to help get the conversations flowing. Entry is 10,000 won and the music is always fun. .
Silk/Juice Snowed and Throwed
The DJs at Silk/Juice have been super busy this month with angelic appearances at cloudy club Col.l.age+ and an end-of-the-world Mayan spree at Cakeshop. But now they’re back in their Exit bar home for a ‘Snowed and Throwed’ 2012 finale. Nukid is also planning to be there, playing some deeeeep house. All for free.
